Hey IH! I've been commenting around here for a bit and wanted to properly introduce what we're building.
The problem we kept seeing: Every founder I talked to knew they should be running ads. Facebook, Instagram, Google, LinkedIn -- the platforms are there, the audiences are there. But the actual process of creating ad creatives? That's where everyone got stuck. You either spend hours in Canva trying to make something that doesn't look amateur, hire a designer for $500+ per batch, or use templates that look like everyone else's ads.
What we built: AdShot takes any URL -- your landing page, product page, blog post, Shopify store -- and generates ready-to-post ad creatives for 13 platforms in about 30 seconds. The AI scrapes your page, understands your brand (colors, copy, value prop), and produces platform-specific creatives with the right dimensions, copy lengths, and formats for each channel.
The stack (for the nerds): Next.js 15, React 19, TypeScript, Supabase for auth and database, Stripe for billing, Claude API for the AI layer, and FLUX/fal.ai for image generation. Hosted on Vercel.
What we learned building it: The biggest lesson was about messaging. We originally described AdShot as an "AI-powered ad generation platform." Nobody cared. When we switched to "paste your URL, get ads in 30 seconds," signups doubled. Same product, completely different response. The second lesson was about scope -- users didn't want a design tool, they wanted to skip the design step entirely.
Where we are now: Free tier available at adshot.co. Generating creatives for 13 platforms. Building in public and iterating based on user feedback.
I'd love your harshest feedback -- what's the biggest pain point in your current ad creation workflow? I read every reply.
The biggest friction in ad creation isn't the design itselft, it's making sure the creative actually matches the audience and platform nuances. your platform solving dimensions, copy length and format automatically is huge!
are you thinking about adding A/B testing recommendations or hooks based on top-performing creatives for similar audiences?
URL to ad creatives in 30 seconds is a strong hook. agencies hate waiting days for creative assets. how are you handling brand consistency across 13 platforms? each has different specs and creative best practices — that seems like the hardest technical challenge.
