It’s a beautiful day.
You have picked your best idea from your vault of ideas. You’ve secured a domain, designed a prototype, built an amazing landing page, reached out to customers, and successfully validated your product via significant amount early signups. Hurray!
Then, for whatever reason, you consider selling it.
Just an idea? An idea with a landing page? No. It now has what 99% of ideas lack: a form of validation.
You sell an opportunity. Which, depending on various factors, could be huge.
Your project’s value depends on those factors. For instance, were those those signups paid signups, did they show explicit intent to pay when you launch? What revenue can you expect your project to achieve in X time based on given factors? What is the market size? How hard it is to get a piece of this market? etc…
Let’s assume you managed to market it so well, 100 passionate customers have already paid. Would this change your perspective on your project’s value? Would you still be excited to sell it because you’ve only worked on this for some insignificant amount of time?
Side note: The pricing of your project should not rely on time and effort you contributed, but rather on factors like the expected growth and ROI of the project long term.

Let's say we believe whatever we read on the interwebs. The buyer bought a domain, a shoutout from 4k twitter account to the targeted audience. Who'd also pump the story in here and probably in his newsletter etc. Sounds like an okay-ish deal.
From the original post "I believe I may have sold the most minimum product one can actually sell." People selling domain name consultation. :)
From the buyer perspective. Yeah I wanna be friends with him/her. :))
I recently sold my first side project which was a small utility chrome extension. I had trouble finding any paying customers because it was in a saturated market and had to sell at a very low price.
I'm not too happy with the overall outcome but I'm glad I was able to sell at all. The whole experience thought me that you have to have/show value if you wanna sell something, otherwise no ones gonna even care.
Yeah, what I see, is buyers are looking for some traction(customers, revenue) in your project to pay a considerable amount of money.
Can you share the amount of money you sold it for? At least the order of magnitude? I'm building an extension too, and I wonder if it's possible to sell it for something that is worth the effort.

Solid post @borispov! I love how you bundled it up and phrased it as an opportunity, which I believe is exactly what I sold. An opportunity to build an amazing business. A validated opportunity.
In hindsight I probably sold the project for too low, but then again how much would someone really pay for a specific opportunity?
Hey Yaro. What project did you sell?
I sold Submetrics, it was a landing page + email list + Figma design
Hi yaro, why you planning to sell playgroup.community ?
Been noticing I can’t really get anywhere working only part time (15 hours per week). This is a SaaS business that requires fulltime commitment, which I can’t do currently. I need to do a simple microsaas. Plus I need the money for a few person things.
Is there a place where I could buy a validated idea?
Sure, check microns.io. We have different types of validated projects, from micro-SaaS to communities. I'm the founder, so I will be happy to help you.
Thanks.
Love this platform! Great job!
Thank you, Eugene 😊
