I've rebuilt the onboarding for Wheel of Founders twice. Still not sure if it's right.
Looking for fresh eyes to sign up, go through the flow, and tell me:
Did you know what to do next?
Did anything feel confusing?
Did you actually complete Day 1?
Takes 5 minutes. Saves me weeks of guessing.
I genuinely opened the link you provided. Once I openned I simply struggled to understand what it is. I tried to find the link to public site or anything that would tell me what "wheel of founders". I still can't figure it out. That's where my onboarding ended.
Rebuilding onboarding twice and still not being sure is actually the honest place to be. Most people convince themselves it's fine after the first rebuild. The questions you're asking testers are exactly the right ones — "did you know what to do next" gets to the real answer much faster than any analytics dashboard will.
That's a good way to put it — 'the honest place to be.' I think after the first rebuild I wanted to believe it was done. But something still felt off. The second rebuild came from watching where new users paused, not from my own assumptions.
The 'did you know what to do next' question has been the most revealing. Analytics can tell you someone dropped off, but it can't tell you why. Sometimes the answer is as simple as a button that didn't look clickable.
Have you found any particular question or method that reveals onboarding friction better than the usual metrics?
