Launched Voclip — turn a voice note into a shareable video without ever showing your face

Some people want an audience but not a camera. I'm one of them. Every time I had something worth posting, the friction wasn't the idea — it was the filming. Set up a shot, look presentable, record five takes, then open a video editor. Most of the time I just didn't post.

So I built Voclip. You record a voice note in the app, pick a template, and about ten seconds later you have a finished video with an animated waveform, ready for TikTok, Reels, Shorts, or LinkedIn. No camera. No editing. No face.

What it does today

  • Record straight in the app with a live waveform
  • 10 templates, each with its own gradient and animation style
  • Cloud rendering — a 30-second clip finishes in under 10 seconds and your phone stays cool
  • Export up to 4K, in 1:1, 9:16, or 16:9
  • Your social handles render onto the video itself
  • Unlimited videos on every plan, including free

The stack
Flutter for the app, Supabase for auth and storage, and a Remotion service on Railway doing all the rendering server-side. That last decision was the big one — moving rendering off-device meant I could ship new templates without pushing a new build to the Play Store. Deploy to Railway, and every existing user gets them.

Where it is
Live on Google Play, Android only for now. iOS is waiting on developer account approval. Free tier gives you unlimited 60-second videos at 720p with a watermark; paid tiers start at $6.99/mo for longer recordings, 1080p, and no watermark.

Built solo, from outside the US, no funding and no team.

What I'd like feedback on
The core bet is that "I want to post but I don't want to be on camera" is a real, common problem — not just mine. If you've felt that friction, does this land as the solution, or does it sound like a thing you'd try once and forget?

The low install count suggests the bottleneck is still explaining the outcome, not adding more features. I’d make the first screenshot show a raw voice note beside the finished captioned video so people understand the transformation before they read anything.

The two installs from 663 impressions suggest the immediate problem is positioning, not product depth. “Your voice, no face” communicates the distinction quickly, but the store screenshots should also show the finished output immediately so users understand why this is better than posting an audio file with a generic waveform.

"Turn Your Note Into a Video. No Face Required"

Is that the benefit of your product? Nah, I actually mean...is that really hook you up? If it is, then I gave you a good example of how to capture attention with words only - and you just explored a whole new world of this
Well if you don't believe me, then I got a good example for you:

See? From my observation, skilled developers with great project is too dedicated with their project that they forgot how to catch attention like a trap.

I just wanna say that most of the time I wander on Indie Hackers, I saw most of you fall for the same trap over and over. From what I think, every product need it's good "welcome" for customer if you ever desire to maximize it's potential of reaching out.

Wait, what if you suspect about my words? well ya can check this:

I'm here to offer that I'm ready to help anyone here for catching attention of their product...for FREE and I want to test how people will react to my title, my "attention catcher" to be real, so if you're open to this then I'm all in to discuss further about this.

    Thanks.

The no-camera promise is easy to understand, and keeping the creator’s own voice could make it feel more personal than an AI voice. Since many short videos are watched with the sound off, are automatic captions part of the generated video now, or is that something you plan to add?

I'm curious what convinced you the core problem is camera avoidance rather than the effort of consistently turning ideas into publishable content.

From the people who've tried Voclip, do they keep using it because they dislike being on camera, or because recording a voice note becomes the fastest path from an idea to something they're actually willing to post?

"audience without camera" is real but crowded, faceless youtube shorts creators are already there with ai voices. what's actually different about voclip is that it's YOUR voice, not a synthesized one. cleaner pitch than "no camera" imo, it's "your voice, no face."

on the android-only dealbreaker you asked about: is your existing signup traffic already android-skewed, or is this mostly ios opportunity cost while apple approval sits? that answer shapes whether the delay is actually hurting you.

Pulled the numbers. More interesting than I expected. 663 store impressions in 28 days, 2 installs. So the problem isn't that nobody's finding the app — Google is showing it to people, and they're deciding against it on the listing page. My store page is doing the rejecting, not the market.

On your iOS question: I genuinely can't answer it yet. The install volume is too low for any OS split to mean anything. But this reframes the whole thing — if my listing converts at a fraction of a percent, shipping iOS just gives me a second broken funnel. Apple approval stopped being my bottleneck the moment I saw that impressions number.

Also taking "your voice, no face" straight into the store listing. My current screenshots don't say it anywhere, which is probably part of why 661 people scrolled past.

Fixing the listing first, then worrying about distribution.
