Hi Devs, this question comes in my mind when i start thinking about building a social network (think about reddit/twitter) from scratch --> serious project, should i pick material-ui just for MVP ? what if the team behind it stop working on it ? should i fork their repo (that's more difficult than starting my own ui-library) in case they stop working on it? i need help guys
I think Material UI is a really solid choice. It's probably the most well run open source project I've come across. The team behind it has managed to turn it into a profitable business (via premium themes and support) so it's very unlikely they'll stop working on it anytime soon. So go for it! I would recommend starting with their new v5 beta so you don't have to migrate later to v5 later: https://next.material-ui.com
Hard agree with Gabe here. There is no react component framework I've seen that even comes close.
