Hi everyone!
I don't usually like to name names, but I think it's useful in this case to explain Cozy.
Cozy sits somewhere between Day One and Obsidian. I've always wanted to create a kind of 'interface for your thoughts': your writing is stored on your computer at all times, so you never have to wonder where it is.
I used Day One for years. But the day they added AI was the day I went looking for something else. I want a dedicated app for journaling, and for a while I used Bear for that (still love it for notes).
I truly believe that you should have the choice of whether or not to feed your private thoughts into any AI. That's why Cozy is based on a few simple principles:
I've kept a journal for seven years, and I want to build a good app for people like me who are tired of subscriptions/AI.
So Cozy is a one-time payment, now and always, because there's no monthly server bill for me to cover.
For now it's desktop only (Windows and Mac), with iOS and Android planned.
Want to know more? Head to https://cozyjournal.app/ or drop a comment here and I'll happily answer.
The thing that caught my attention is that you didn't leave because Day One stopped being useful.
You left because it became a different kind of product than the one you originally chose.
That feels like a subtle distinction, but reading the post it seems to sit underneath a lot of what you're building with Cozy.
