The itch
After countless 12-hour coding marathons and late-night doom-scroll sessions, my neck felt like it was carrying a bowling ball. Tension headaches became my new normal, and no amount of stretching or fancy gadgets helped long-term. I needed a coach that worked as seamlessly as my AirPods and that’s when the idea for UpRight hit me.
The build
Timeline: 8 weeks of nights & weekends
Tech: SwiftUI • Core Motion • StoreKit 2
Challenge: Snagging live motion data from the AirPods without draining battery or asking users to wear extra straps
I started by prototyping with Core Motion, then reverse-engineered key AirPods sensor streams to detect forward flex in real-time. After a few migraine-inducing Xcode updates, I had a reliable proof of concept and enough caffeine-fueled momentum to push through a minimal viable product.

What UpRight does
Real-time posture feedback via AirPods (no cameras, straps, or extra hardware)
7-minute alignment workouts you can finish between stand-ups
Focus Mode that silences distracting apps during your session
Streaks & milestones with tiny, feel-good animations that reward consistency
Privacy-first design all data stays on device; zero ads or tracking
To make it risk-free, every new user gets a 3-day full-access trial right from the App Store.
