I believe this is a future direction, especially for small influencers, Open Source projects, and crowdfunded products.

Each one of these has enough "attention" brought in by those consuming them, yet they still aren't sustainable without a traditional income stream unless creators behind them take a significant risk or land key partnerships / revenue generating opportunities to do so.

Patreon, GitHub sponsors, TikTok creator fund, etc are all tools to help fuel the growth machine, but for scalable value to be created, it should be created out of abundance, not out of scarcity.

100% agree. I'm always on the lookout for new creators and I love the idea to funded them and help them evolve. I'm sure creative talent will be unlocked by letting fans choose the next great creator. 💪

Really interesting idea. What about a platform that allows creators to put their company on blockchain and offer Influencer coins? And like with a real business the valuation is based on views, add revenue, brand value, etc. Some creators could pay dividends from generated add rev etc. others act like growth companies and forgo paying any divs for growth...

I think much of the attention economy will shift towards more sustainable models for creators. I don't believe many creators will be willing to give equity for creations that are already at zero marginal cost.

Yes, good point, to some degree!
But, Most content is evergreen so can keep producing income. The more videos the creator makes the higher the income, thus the price of shares increase. So if you can accelerate that growth by unlocking capital, then why not.
Like the stock market, you price in future growth, which means you allow the creator to grow faster thanks to immediate access to capital. There could also be the move from pure creator to manager for other channel creators...and so forth. I see many pros in giving up equity...

I agree that a simple review video may cost nothing to make, but truly creative content can quickly become very expensive. Especially if you host million-dollar gameshows a la Mr. Beast...

Or we could see creators become movie makers...

Would be cool to see Youtube-only distributed movies...
